For Overseas Makers

Independent, maker-neutral support inside Japan — empty-can supply, double-seam service and on-site engineering. We do not sell canning machines.

FOR OVERSEAS MAKERS
Your Japan-Side Partner for Market Entry

Japan is a high-barrier market for overseas makers. Double Seam Japan serves as your single Japan-side point of contact — handling everything from receiving the goods in California through delivery to breweries in Japan and on-site support. As an independent, maker-neutral service provider, we take on only the Japan-side legwork, so you keep full control of your brand and your sales.

Track Record

We have installed and supported over 100 canning lines in Japan. We are also an authorized reseller of one of Japan’s largest can manufacturers, supplying empty cans, and for many years we have handled double-seam quality control as a hands-on, day-to-day part of our work. We are well accustomed to working — commercially and technically — with U.S. equipment makers, including Ska Fabricating, Pack Leader, Inline Filling Systems and Chart. We are confident we can work smoothly with your company as well.

What We Handle, End to End

  • Food Sanitation Act filing (obtained by us as the importer; reusable for identical models)
  • Import & customs clearance, end to end (from receiving goods in California to delivery to breweries in Japan)
  • Japanese-language commissioning, acceptance attendance, and ongoing technical support
  • Domestic stock and fast shipping of key spare parts and consumables
  • Support for achieving a reliable double seam with Japanese 204-diameter cans (roller & chuck fitting and adjustment)

Our Technical Setup

We have three full-time engineers. Our representative travels between Japan and the U.S. roughly every six weeks; the other two are permanently based in Japan. We acquire the expertise for your machine entirely at our own expense:

  • Assembly training at your U.S. factory (two engineers learn the structure and assembly)
  • Hands-on participation in canning at operating sites in Japan
  • Attendance at commissioning and acceptance for your Japanese customers (2–3 engineers on site)

If you wish, we can also install one of your machines at our Odawara warehouse as a demonstration and training base for prospective customers in Japan. Having a place where the machine can be seen in person in Japan gives your sales a strong boost.

Local Support as Your Selling Point

We have a strong service reputation and work closely with Japan’s can makers; when seaming issues or minor can changes arise, we have a track record of solving them on-site, together. You are welcome to use the fact that a robust local support structure exists in Japan as a selling point in your own sales efforts.

Yen-Denominated Transactions

With corporate entities in both Japan and the U.S., Japanese customers can pay in yen. The commercial flow can run [Japanese customer → our Japan entity → your company (U.S.)], or via our U.S. entity in between. In these times of sharp exchange-rate swings, settling in yen works in favor of both the customer and your company.

The Only Thing We Ask

We ask for one thing only: that your Japanese customers source their empty cans through us, without exception. That is the whole of it. We would not become your exclusive or sole distributor — there is no exclusivity and no territory arrangement. We act in an independent, maker-neutral capacity, handling only can supply and local support. Furthermore, even if we were to become some manufacturer’s authorized distributor in the future, we pledge to continue servicing your machines for as long as empty cans are purchased through us.

Flexible Scope · NDA

If you would prefer support for only the import/export portion (customs clearance and logistics) rather than the full service, we can flexibly design the scope to suit your needs. As this involves access to your internal information, we proceed under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) where needed.

Important
